There is never a shortage of authors who are eager to write stories with creative twists or explore new niches in fiction. That is why the ReadersMagnet Book Confab and Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025 invite authors every year to showcase their ambitious works and make sure the reading public's imagination is always full of fresh ideas.
So for aspiring military fiction author Paul H. D'Anna, it's just the place to showcase his own novel “The Commander In Chief's Trophy.” Unlike other stories in the genre, where the focus is often on veteran servicemen, secret agents, or grizzled mercenaries, “The Commander In Chief's Trophy” was mainly inspired by the rivalry of West Point and the Naval Academy in their unofficial yet yearly tradition of stealing each other's mascots.
It is a real tradition that dates back to at least the 1950s, and D'Anna hopes his novel will highlight the lighter, more youthful side of the U.S. military while also giving him the chance to get really creative with his passion for the people defending America. The book mixes plenty of other real-life facts about military academy life and combines them to set the stage for an exciting, action-packed mystery.
Not many military fiction novels put much focus and detail into the lives of modern cadets and how they are formed. For D'Anna, having his work showcased at the ReadersMagnet Book Confab and Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025 will be an opportunity to educate and entertain curious readers.
Visitors will be able to check out “The Commander In Chief's Trophy” on display at the ReadersMagnet Book Confab and ReadersMagnet's exhibit at the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2025 at booth on April 26-27, 2025, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. The book is available on ReadersMagnet Bookstore, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
